Another fantastic display from the lads saw us win the league with a 100% success rate as we put our hosts South Woodham Ferrers to the sword in a game totally dominated by the boys.
Things started very brightly with early tries from Ben Acons & Nathan Morris who both made fantastic runs to give us an early 12-0 lead, then matters turned somewhat after some unusual reffing decisions suddenly brought lots of penalties to our hosts, however we weathered the storm and continued to push, being rewarded again when Henri Hobbs powered over for our third.
Just as it was looking like a shut out in the first half some bizarre decisions from the ref saw a scrum to us turned into a penalty for SWF, then followed to penalty movements of 10 metres each from the ref putting the ball on our 3 metre line, with the boys being made to retreat to the dead ball line, WHO KNEW???? Of course SWF scored and the half time whistle was blown, 17-7.
The boys were determined to come out all guns blazing after this travesty and soon a dded to the scoreline with another try for Ben Acons, again showing a clean pair of heels to his pursuers, and a first of two for Captain Owen Morris as he side stepped two defenders, both competently slotted home by Lewis Walcott. Cade Carter-Thomas then decided to get in on the act as he bulldozed his way through to score, the extra points were missed by what I can only describe as a golfing bunker shot of an attempt by Louis Blake to convert the try, I think the ball went higher than it went in distance!! LOL
Owen Morris added another to his tally after some neat play with his brother which included a back handed pass and a swallow dive for the score, again the conversion attempt was from an unusual source as Owen drop kicked it over the posts to make the scoreline 7-43.
We almost added another but were thwarted by the final whistle as we were marauding down the left wing, however happy with our days work with probably 80% possession and territory as well as a healthy scoreline.
A 100% success rate in the league this year and as yet unbeaten in the Cup, marvellous boys, you did us all proud.
